begins after the really nice weekend now Work.
Today we were in the morning as a guest at the Austrian Embassy, where, in different presentations to the Estonian education system, D-teaching in the schools, bilingual education (especially Russian and Estonian) and the Association of Estonia was D-Lehrer/innen.
In the photo: The Austrian delegation to the very nice Ambassador Dr. Angelika Saupe-Berchtold.
Perhaps at this point to interested colleagues a few facts (the others can continue even further down):
-) The "real" school for children begins with 7 to 16 and they stay together in the classes (class 1 to 9).. If you want, and so do 60%, continues to 12th to high school.
-) The level exam is available here for 11 years and also the students who stop at 16, making a central audit.
-) All teachers have a training requirement of 150 hours in five years (= 30 pa)
-) The schools enjoy an extremely high level of autonomy of: The school puts together his own curriculum, may establish its own rating system, they has its own budget and financial staff, including teachers, are appointed by the Director.
-) 6 from the Class (12, 13 years) to know the students a 2nd Language, 16, a third.
Speaking Language: In Estonian there because of German influence in the history of about 10% of loan words like cap, room, class, stairways, printsess, Pirner, supp, eesel, clothing, buss ,.... was spoken
also the somewhat strained relationship with the Russian population, many of which can still not in spite of long time Estonian. After a serious detriment to the children, is one of the educational objectives that in the next few years all pupils Estonian as much control that they have at least B1 standard or higher have. In some parts of Estonia, as in the North East where there is more industry, the ratio of Russians to Estonia is just the opposite, that is 80:20, which of course brings some problems. But it will work on it and certainly requires some time.
On the picture you see my colleague, Krista, with which I in the 2nd Part of my stay would work. She is the chairman of the Association of Estonian Deutsch-Lehrer/innen.
the afternoon we were still in the National Library, where we had a guide and we could see the Austrian reading room. Yes, there is something there, I've seen in a book even a picture of Heidenreichstein and immediately hergezeigt proud. Then I went
with an employee at the Ministry of Education, Mrs Katrin Rein, everything was perfectly organized for our stay, take the train to Tartu. Also here is WI-FI (wireless LAN) in place and a part of the report I wrote during the 2 1/2-hour drive.
In Tartu Tiiu picked me, my colleague from the school in Elva. It is, like all other people with whom we had contact, very nice. At this point it must be noted also that the German level of the teachers is very high.
She brought me with her husband Verevi to the motel, where I obtained a rather small room for 14 days. There is no wardrobe, a bed with two bedside tables, a secretary, where my laptop up suits and bathroom / WC. My dress now hangs on the coat rack, or if the bed and will remain in the case.
Now I am already curious at first my school when I will be working with the children. find more reports and some first impressions tomorrow.
ohtust Tere! (Good evening)
