Groping Free Movies In Train

11.9.2009 - Long journey to Tallinn

After 4 weeks of preparation, of which 3 weeks in the holidays, went today at 5 clock go to my highly anticipated task. Estonia is a relatively unknown country for me, although I know through our motor home holiday in the European north (south), where the area is sometimes very similar, and the study of the guide a bit closer.

It seems very committed to wait two German teachers for me and a lot of students with diverse knowledge of our language, many of them are beginners. For this reason, I have at home a lot of time spent preparing me hours, games, exercises for all cases and levels of performance. That was expensive, but it struck me in view of the need to be kept 25 hours for more meaningful than the spot then cramped in a hurry to look for appropriate content. In addition, still other events would come to me, also a little free time was supposed to be ever.

Prior to working at the schools I pushed through my early arrival or an extra day in Tallinn, of which I will report tomorrow.

Today, 1 Day, so check-in: S-Bahn to the airport, 8 clock flight to Berlin, where for 5 hours waiting time. One problem was of course the luggage, since for 4 weeks has to stay fast together 20 kg. Air Berlin I had the good fortune that we take from 28 days 30kg , but at the Estonian Air, they had only two blind eye, so I came away with no extra charge. By 15 clock flight to Tallinn in glorious weather, where I arrived after 1 1 / 2 hour flight due to the time difference of one hour in the early evening. Then a taxi to the Hotel Unique Mihkli (PC, TV, W-Lan in the small room), located near the center. What is striking is the fact that relatively little traffic - Friday afternoon / evening in Vienna - both seen, no comparison.

Then unpack just yet, writing reports, Internet setup, Skype with the woman, and before going to bed and a beer - one, as it turned out, very bold specialty - Garlic bread pieces, but which are fried briefly in hot fat.

And if you still want to read further, the I supply a few hard facts about Estonia:

After 1 World War was the country 20 years an independent republic, then came the 2nd WK, after integration into the Soviet empire, since 1991 a free country and since 2004 there has been a member of the EU.

Estonia, which feels more to the north and the east of Europe belongs, is half the size of Austria, but with 1.34 million people live here than in Vienna. 400,000 of life in Tallinn, the capital, a quarter of the population are Russians.

There are 1,500 islands, 1,200 lakes, 20% of the country is covered by swamps and marshes, 40% is forest area, it is not too many more of. Well, the highest "mountain" is just 318 meters high, so the country is not really the mecca for mountaineers.

The Peipsi lake that forms part of the Russian border in the east, 3,500 km ².

Man Estonia also referred to as the "Tiger of the Baltic" and much has been and is trying to leave the bad years of the transatlantic economic communism behind. Since the 90s, there is an education initiative and generous support for new technologies. Thus, all schools have already long great computer rooms including Internet, the majority of Estonians authoritys the tax equalization online and uses online banking, anywhere there is free internet access and a number of hot spots, and in 2005 the municipal elections conducted via the Internet.

movies and series on TV are usually sent in the original languages with subtitles and provided a maximum, which promotes the language throughout.

Shortly to - very difficult - Language: Estonian belongs to none of the known language groups and has nothing to do with the Slav, which is also a boundary to the east, but is expected to Finno-Ugric language family. Finnish is related to Estonian, but still just as German to Dutch. - By the way: There are 14 cases!

Two things are easy, as far as I can say already, easy to remember: "Tere" means "hello" and beer is "olu".

So, that was my long first report, including history and geography models. ;-)
